Load and Apply Layer Styles: Photoshop CS2 / CS / 7 /etc.

Loading and applying layer styles is a very simple process. If you are unfamiliar with how to use these cool add-ons, here's a quick demonstration. You may also view a video of this process here.

To begin, create a new document. As most of the styles I create are put together for fairly large type (this may be reduced later), create the document with a resolution of 212 ppi. My settings are seen in the example below.

Hit the D key to reset the foreground/background colors to Black/White respectively. Enter some very large text using the Type Tool. Keep in mind these styles may also be applied to buttons, shapes and so forth.

In the upper right corner of the Layer Styles palette (Window>Styles) is a small arrow that opens the palette menu. Select either Load Styles or Replace Styles from the list. I prefer to replace the loaded styles with the new set.

Navigate to the folder on your hard drive where the styles are saved, and select the set.

Once you click 'Load', the set will be ready to use in Photoshop. With the Type Layer selected in the Layers Palette, click on a Style in the Layer Styles palette. The style will instantly change your text.

To change to a different style, simply click on another and the text will change also.

Like this style set? It is available in the members area. Take care!
